Loud applause filled the room when new Massey Ferguson Global Series models were unveiled in Turkey – the latest market to launch these eagerly-anticipated new tractors.
Initially, two non-cab models – the 85hp MF 4708 and 95hp MF 4709 - are being made available in Turkey, where more than one in three tractors currently in operation is branded Massey Ferguson.
The tractors were revealed for the first time in the country at the annual Massey Ferguson Dealer Conference in Antalya on 2 February. They will also be on exhibit to the public at Turkey’s Konya Show in March.
“Turkish dealers gave the tractors a big and enthusiastic welcome, and there was much talk about their superb engineering and quality,” says Campbell Scott, Massey Ferguson Director Sales Engineering and Brand Development who attended the conference. “It was great to be there and everyone came away fired up about the future of these super new machines.”
Backed by an investment of over $350 million from Massey Ferguson’s parent company AGCO and developed from a clean-sheet design, the Massey Ferguson Global Series is a brand-new product line of 60-130hp tractors for worldwide markets.
Speaking at the conference, Richard Markwell, Massey Ferguson Vice President and Managing Director Europe/Africa/Middle East. “Global in outlook but local in approach, these new workhorse tractors are creating much excitement amongst the farming community. As modern agriculture becomes ever more challenging and hungry for efficient and appropriate technology, these tractors represent a new source of power for world agriculture.
“Massey Ferguson has a long history in Turkey and is well-respected by farmers here,” explains Ibrahim Aksoy, General Manager AGCO Turkey and AGCO Country Manager. “This is a key territory and represents the brand’s largest market by sales volume in the Europe/Africa/Middle East region.”
“Rugged and reliable, easy to operate and maintain, the Global Series machines are Massey Ferguson through and through. They are 21st century tractors, purpose-built for modern operations using the very latest advanced engineering and manufacturing tools and techniques. Total Turkish industry sales of tractors in the sub-100hp bracket account for more than 50,000 units – representing some 90% of the market in 2013. This is Massey Ferguson’s heartland. We will be further reinforcing our position in this segment with the introduction of these new Global Series models which will expand and complement our existing MF range,” adds Mr Aksoy.
